Who knows the PGA TOUR pros better than their significant others? No, we're not talking about their caddies, but the PGA TOUR wives, who play such an important support role as their husbands grind out a living each week. PGATOUR.COM is asking TOUR wives to give us 18 things we should know about their husbands.
Jason Dufner enters this week's PGA Championship as one of the favorites -- and it's a far cry from this time a year ago, when he nearly shocked the PGA TOUR by taking the PGA Championship for his first career victory.
But it didn't happen. Instead, he lost in a playoff to Keegan Bradley, sending Dufner to one of the more bitter defeats seen in recent major championship history.
Instead of regressing from his near-triumph, Dufner went on to become the hottest player on the PGA TOUR in April and May. He stormed to his first win at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, won the HP Byron Nelson Championship and nearly won again the next week at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. He followed it up with an outstanding fourth-place finish at the U.S. Open.
And, oh yeah, he married his longtime girlfriend, Amanda, not long after becoming a PGA TOUR winner.
Now ranked third in the FedExCup race and eighth in the Official World Golf Ranking, Dufner is on the short list to win this week at Kiawah Island and avenge his loss at Atlanta Athletic Club.
Ahead of the year's final major, the new Mrs. Dufner gives insight on her 35-year-old husband.
Writes Amanda:
Jason and I were introduced through mutual family friends in Auburn. Neither of us were expecting to meet and definitely were caught off guard. It took him awhile to call but when he finally did we found time in his busy travel schedule to meet for a date in New Orleans. Needless to say, the stars aligned from there. Very fitting his first victory was there too!!
